- Streamlined method to create a concrete poem on the computer.
- Find your image (it does not matter what kind now)
- Paste it into a new document with transparent background in
photoshop
- Remove background using the magic wand
- Copy the entire image
- In illustrator
- Create a new document
- Paste
- Make a new layer, hide the old one
- Paste
- Click anywhere on the document not on the image
- Then, click on the image
- Hide the other layer
- Use Live Trace options
- Uncheck fill
- Check strokes
- Check preview
- Use the sliders (start with threshold) to minimize your paths
and see only the paths on which you want to write.
- Click live trace
- Click expand
- Using the text on a path tool
- Click on the path where you want to type.
- If it yells at you move a little to the left or right on the
path.
- Edit the text
- Use guides
- To move the text
- Middle guide flips the text on the path
- Make all layers visible
- Rinse
- Repeat
- We collected classical poem final drafts

Homework
- Concrete poem due at the end of class Tuesday
